01.-CALAFATE
Arrival to the airport. Meet and transfer to the Boat. Night aboard.
02.-CALAFATE
Breakfast.At 9 a.m. the boat "Leal" Cruise, departs heading north to Punta Avellaneda across the "Brazo Norte" of "Lago Argentino". The first icebergs to appear indicate the closeness to Upsala Glacier, one of the largest in the national park, with a width of almost 7 km. In the Canal de las Americas, lunch is served while enjoying a beautiful view.
Framed by the colors of the sunset, passengers will admire the Spegazzini glacier, a large ice river that descends through a rocky slope falling over the lake, emphasizing its high walls.
At "Puerto Las Vacas", we anchor and passengers can gather around the fire to share a drink before dinner. A clear night can be ideal to observe the stars. Night aboard
03.-CALAFATE
After a delicious breakfast, passengers cruise across the "Canal de los Tempanos" up to Bahia Alemana where lunch is served. The craft continues its navigation until it reaches Perito Moreno Glacier, where awe-inspiring chunks of ice of all shapes and sizes crumble, causing amazement and delight. The exclusiveness of being there at the right moment, with no other audience than the passengers of "Leal", is the greatest reward.
Return to Puerto Bandera. Disembark at 5 p.m. and transfer to El Calafate. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight
04.-CALAFATE
Breakfast . Morning at leisure. At the evening, Half day City Tour of Calafate.
At evening we will go to Estancia Alice, only 20 km from Calafate. There, they will receive us with homemade cakes, breads and candies to accompany the tea. Then they will invite us to make a visit until the zone of lagoons for birdwatching. We will return to the main house urging on ewes, with the kelpie´s dogs and their owners assistance and, after the demonstration of cowbell in the shed we will go to the restaurant to have dinner. The dinner will consists of lamb roasted with wood (characteristic of the zone), salads of the orchard, homemade dessert and coffee. Return to the hotel. Overnight.
05.-CALAFATE
Breakfast. The tour begins at the Bay Harbor "Bajo de las Sombras", sited 22 km from The Glaciers National Park entrance and 8 km from the Glacier. There you go on board in order to reach the opposite coast of Peninsula de Magallanes crossing the Rico Branch of Argentine Lake. The sailing time is about twenty minutes.
Specialized guides take the group (approximately 20 people) along a coast path that leads to the southern margin of the glacier after a 30 minutes trip. There, helped by experts, metallic nails in shoes are put, necessary to walk on ice. Also, the basic technique to use them is explained and a speech about glacier origin, regional flora and fauna is given.
From there, you begin to climb towards the glacier slowly, walking for about
two hours, stopping occasionally just to take some pictures.
It's a unique opportunity to appreciate in situ the different formations of the
glacier (drains, cracks, etc.) and the varied tonalities of the ice that constitute a show by themselves. On the way back, an alternative path is used through the forest, allowing to obtain a different panoramic view of the glacier. When arriving to the shelter, you´ll have time to lunch and then you´ll goes aboard to navigate back toward the starting point. During this sailing, approaches to the front wall of the glacier in order to appreciate the real proportion of it are carried out. We return to the Calafate. Overnight
06.-CALAFATE
Breakfast. Transfer form the hotel to the Airport.
